Ross Bagdasarian and “The Trouble With Harry”

Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. (1919-1972) who plays the songwriter in RW was in real life . . . a songwriter (who did bits, occasionally, in movies). He specialized in novelty songs, and scored his greatest success, as David Seville, when he created the Chipmunks. In 1956, however, he had, from what wikipedia tells me, a minor hit with an annoying little ditty that has nothing to do with AH’s film of the same name, “The Trouble With Harry.” Bagdasarian knew how to ride on the coattails of someone else’s promotion, I gather, although the film didn’t do all that well. Hmmm, I wonder if the song actually scuppered AH’s boxoffice?
